Mille, Geraldine "Gerry" (Smith)

-

Geraldine “Gerry” (Smith) Mille, 90, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of 69 years to Salvatore Mille, Jr., passed away peacefully, at her home, on February 20th, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on October 16, 1930 in Harveytown, Kentucky to the late Willie & Christine (Gabriel) Smith.

Gerry & Sal's marriage embodied the true meaning of love. They were sometimes referred to as Edith and Archie Bunker for the way that they bickered yet adored one another. They raised five children together and never went more than a few days without each other. Gerry ran the family trucking business while Sal was out driving. They truly balanced each other out. Geraldine was known for her amazing memory and pasta sauce. No date of importance was ever forgotten by her. She was "as sharp as a tack.” Anyone who was fortunate enough to eat her homemade pasta sauce and meatballs knew how special it truly was. Her sauce was often made from scratch using the tomatoes that she grew in her garden. It was the dish that she made that always brought family and friends together to enjoy. Gerry was also known for her love of dancing to any and all types of music, especially country music. She would always tear up the dance floor any chance she had, although polka was her favorite. Everyone always loved to watch her dance, it was such a joy! She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. Gerry will be immensely missed by her friends and family. In addition to her husband, Gerry is survived by her five children, William “Billy” Mille of Bloomfield, Rosemary Tucker of Rockledge, FL, Judy Mathias and her husband Gerald of Port Orange, FL, Joan Macri and her longtime friend Dennis Souza of Edgewater, FL and Joseph Mille and his wife Linda of South Windsor; four grandchildren, Kimberly Derosier and her husband Donald Jr. of Vernon, Monica Winkler and her husband Brian of Vernon, Michelle Strich and her husband Jeffrey of Potomac, MD, and Joseph Mille, Jr. of Medway, MA; seven great-grandchildren, Shea, Dominic, Anthony, Colby, Josh, Amalie and Austin. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Richard Smith; a sister, Martha Amara; and two sons-in-law Carl Tucker and Louis J. Macri, Jr.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
