Crocker, Jr., James Douglas
James Douglas Crocker, Jr. died April 8, 2021 at home in The Villages, FL. Doug was born on July 20, 1940 in Chicago, Il. the son of the late James D. Crocker, Sr. and Gladys Folster Crocker. He grew up in Wethersfield, CT and later settled in East Granby, CT after marrying Patricia Searing with whom he had and helped raise two sons, James Blaine Crocker (Shannon F. White) of Morristown, NJ and Robert Francis Crocker (Marcella) of East Granby, CT. Later, Doug and Pat separated and divorced while still maintaining caring and interested communication since then. Some time after, Doug married Marion Souppa Rousseau of Glastonbury and they lived there until their employment days ended. Soon they became dedicated RV travelers experiencing new places and acquaintances countrywide. Following years and many, many miles they selected The Villages as their permanent retirement home.
All the facts fail to capture the unique person "tugbatdoug" was to all who knew and cherished him. Sadly missed will be his enthusiasm for life and his always new interest in and appreciation of people, ideas, places, adventures and opportunities to benefit others. For many years Doug especially enjoyed boating and sailing with much focus around the Wethersfield Cove and Yacht Club. His E-mail tag "We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sail" well expressed his direct, straightforward approach to life and its unpredictable twists and turns. Also now absent will be his innate skill as a builder, tinkerer and repairer of things both big and small.
He also left his siblings Judy Landry (Maury) of Bangor, ME and Richard Crocker (Judy) of Burlington, VT in addition to grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and many other relatives by marriage. His family will "adjust the sail" and share a time of remembrance at a later date.
