Robert “Bob” Douglas Townsend, 56, a lifelong resident of Ellington, CT, died unexpected­ly at home on April 20, 2021.

Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r with a huge heart and a great sense of humor. He was a valued IT Technician at CT Temperatur­e Control for 18 years. Bob was an avid fan of New England sports teams and loved attending sporting events with family and friends. He loved spending time with his family and dog at home, outdoors and in the garden. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 36 years, Tammy Townsend; His three daughters, Jessica Bahler and her husband Kurt Bahler, Tanya Hoffman and her husband Daniel Hoffman, and Skylar Townsend and her partner Andrew Main; His cherished grandsons, Eli Bahler, Clint Bahler, Eivin Hoffman and Henry Hoffman; His parents, Douglas and Carol Townsend; His brother Greg Townsend and his wife Sherry Olko-Townsend; and many other special family and friends. Bob was predecease­d by his mother-in-law Joyce Leighton.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottvil­le Road in Vernon on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 4-6 pm.
