Dougan, Pauline
Pauline V. Dougan, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on April 25, 2021. Born and raised in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania in 1928, Polly lived a long and meaningful life, bringing joy to those around her. She was a life-long career woman, rising through the ranks to become the executive assistant to the president of the J.M. Ney Company in Bloomfield, Connecticut and becoming one of the first female officers of that company. She lived most of her adult life in Connecticut, raised a family there, and then retired to Florida where she lived in Glen Lakes in the town of Weeki Wachee until last year. "Polly" loved her time at Glen Lakes, participating in and leading a number of social clubs, such as the Singles Club and the Garden Club. She was a gourmet cook and a wonderful host. An avid world-traveler, Polly was an independent, enthusiastic participant in life, always up for a new adventure. As much as she enjoyed traveling to far-flung locales and sampling various cuisines, she most enjoyed the people she met along the way, forging deep and enduring relationships with so many who will fondly remember her. Polly is survived by her beloved family members: Christopher Dougan, Elizabeth Azari, David Azari, Jennifer Azari, Pauline Valentino, Blake Snyder, Laurie DiJoy, Lloyd Straight, Albert Straight, and Grace Martin, among others. A celebration of Polly's inspiring life is being planned for this summer.
