John Wright Hofmann, Jr., 81 of North Granby, CT., passed away peacefully Thursday May 6th 2021 surrounded by his family. Born in New Britain, CT on June 18, 1939 son of the late John Wright Hofmann Sr. and Helen Hofmann. John was raised in Plainville CT. He was educated in local schools and was a 1957 graduate of Plainville High School, where he excelled as a four-sport athlete in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track. Together with his late wife Monica, whom he married on June 25th, 1960 they moved to Granby in 1971 and ultimately purchased the Cedar Ledge Farm where they fulfilled their dream of having a farm and horses. John worked for over 35 years at Northeast Utilities retiring as a Logistics Manager. He was an avid hunter, he also enjoyed fishing and horseback riding. John was proud of his accomplish­ments on the Cedar Ledge Farm and being able to take such wonderful care of his property. He leaves his two children, John Hofmann, III and his wife Ivette of Tewksbury, MA, and Lisa Hofmann Brunelle of Granby CT- four grandchild­ren, Francie Marshall and her husband James., Ashley Hofmann and her significan­t other, Sal Basile of Tewksbury, MA., Stacy Brunelle Bourbeau and her husband Christophe­r and Michael Brunelle of Granby, CT., three great grandchild­ren, Ava, Gavin and Jordyn Marshall., his sister Joyce Vallancour­t and her husband John of Apopka, FL., a brother-in-law., Roland Smelter and his wife Nancylee of Beloit, IL as well as his nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 12th, 12-2 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home. 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will be private in Granby Cemetery.
