Noel James Hogan, 75, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Noel was born on September 17, 1945, in Montserrat of the British West Indies in the Carribean, son to the late Alfred and Margaret Hogan. He grew up on the island, later relocating to the United States where he resided in Plainville for many years. He loved to travel and see the world, which is what brought him from the islands to the United States. Noel was an active man, always keeping busy between working various jobs and exercising in his free time. Noel maintained a healthy lifestyle and was well into fitness. He loved the outdoors and wandering on walks. He worked at the Hartford Courant for several years as a press operator. He had a passion for learning; he loved watching television to try and learn as much as he possibly could about the arts, nature, and what was going on in the world. No matter how old he got he wanted to try to learn and really valued education and learning. Noel was a witty, stubborn, and a bit argumentative man with a heart of gold. He loved meeting new people and would talk to anyone who would lend an ear to listen. If you were ever in the presence of Noel, there was no way you did not engage in conversation, as he loved telling stories. Noel is survived by his children, Matthew Hogan, Nicole Hogan and her partner, Jesse Guterman, and Caitlyn Hogan; his siblings, Annetta Fenton, Winifred Harper, Reginald “Doctor” Hogan, all of the United Kingdom, and Mabel Fagan and Lennox Len Hogan, in Montserrat; the mother of his children, Brenda Everett; his niece, Daphne Bass; and his grandnieces, Danielle Bass and Kara Bass. In addition, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Ollie Hogan; and his siblings, Johnny Allen, Peter Allen, Alfred Hogan Jr., James Jim Hogan, and Rhoda Williams.

Services in celebration of Noel's life will be held privately. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville extends their gratitude to the Hogan family for their trust.
