Lundeberg, Arthur R

-

Arthur "Art" Lundeberg, 94, passed away peacefully on May 16, surrounded by his family. Born in 1927, he survived the Depression and World War II before he turned 19. These experiences steeled his conscience and he grew to be an exceptionally compassionate man with a love for life. His motto was "Everyone needs to feel important." He listened with his heart like he had all the

time in the world for you.

Known for his terrible jokes and his habit of singing "Home on the Range" at every opportunity, Art's biggest pleasure was helping others: family, friends, neighbors, and especially his children's friends. He would help you build a deck, set up your wedding, clear out your basement, dig manure into your garden. Whatever you needed, Art was there with his know-how and his pickup truck.

As a teenager, he worked in his uncle's Swedish grocery. He attended Hartford Public High, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 for his outstanding performance in swimming. He served in the navy, attended Ohio State and traveled coast to coast several times "riding the rails." In 1957 he started "Parts Feeders," a specialty machine shop. He worked there for 50 years. After he retired in 2007, he started "Vibratory Feeders" with his son, Jim and Jim's friend, Craig Pointer. He worked there for 5 years, never taking a salary. That business is now thriving and Craig says "Without Art, I wouldn't have any of this."

During his life Art was a tennis player, sailor, skier, cub scout leader, swimmer, and "health food nut." He read

Time magazine and The Economist, non-fiction and college textbooks. He watched"Larry King Live." He relished debating--not to win but to "solve the problems of the world."

Art met his wife and love of his life, Glenda Ouellette,

while square dancing. They were together 40 years until his death. He is also survived by his son Jim and Jim's fiance Cheryl LeDuc; daughter Ruth Anne; stepdaughter Bonnie Ouellette; granddaughters Kaylin, Chelsea and Madison, sisters Lorelle Schiewitz and Marjorie Loucks, brother-in-law Roger Loucks, sisterin-law Carole Lundeberg and a large extended family. He is predeceased by his brothers Roger, Allen, Russell and Jack as well as best friends Charlie Carlson and Doug Perkins.

Art's humility is reflected in his final wishes to be honored in a private memorial.
