Glanovsky, Frederick B.

-

Frederick B. Glanovsky, 86, will be sadly missed as he passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 9, 2021, with his son by his side. Fred was born on February 9, 1935, in Unionville, Connecticut, son of the late Michael and Sophie Glanovsky and was the youngest of nine children.

Fred is survived by his son Charles (Chip) Glanovsky, sister-in-law Doris Sanborn, brother-in-law Ben Gilbert and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Peter Glanovsky (February 13, 2017), his wife, Anne Rogers Glanovsky (January 26, 2018), his brothers and spouses Andy and Eva Glanovsky, Michael Glanovsky, Edward and Shirley Glanovsky, Albert and Marilyn Glenn, his sisters and spouses, Gene and Mary Reichler, Anna Glanovsky, Norman and Elizabeth Neske, and Theresa Gilbert, his sister-in-law's husband John Sanborn and his brotherin-law and wife John and Inez Rogers.

Fred graduated from Farmington High School where he was a four letter athlete, captain of the football team and president of his class. He worked throughout high school and college paying his own way and received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the first graduating class of the University of Hartford. He was offered a position at Pratt & Whitney in the engineering division and had a 42-year career he genuinely

loved. It was a dream career as he loved planes and flight, he had his private pilot's license and owned a single engine plane with two friends. After marrying Anne Rogers in 1958, they settled in the Highlands in Farmington but moved shortly afterwards to Edwards Air Force Base in California for his first work assignment with Pratt. After returning from California, he and Anne started a family, built a house, and raised his family on Forest Hills Drive in Farmington eventually retiring to Florida with Anne. Fred loved the outdoors, sports, working on projects of any kind and tended to his many flower gardens. Specifically, he enjoyed and played tennis, paddle tennis, and loved to ski with his family. He was an avid gardener and loved to travel,

especially to the far east. Fred was a true gentleman; he was kind and loving and was genuinely interested in people. He was driven, focused and passionate about his career, but greater than that and most important to him was his family and friends. Fred was an amazing, caring, loving and devoted father and husband, a loving uncle and was a friend to many. He will be greatly missed and remembered fondly and lovingly; he will always be in the heart of his son Chip. A special thank you to UConn in Farmington for the amazing care they provided for Fred and the kindness and support they gave me during this difficult time.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Fred Glanovsky will be held Saturday, June 26 at 11:00 am in St. James Episcopal Church, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
