Hamilton, Robert T.
Robert T. Hamilton, 71, of Chester, CT, and Palm City, FL, passed away on January 6th, 2021, with his wife Judith by his side, a victim of Covid-19. Robert grew up in Meriden, CT, the youngest of four children. He was an entrepreneur, a true self-made man, the founder of the human resources company, Hamilton Connections, Inc. His integrity and compassion were
admired by his clients, employees and the community.
A decorated war veteran, Rob joined Army Airborne early in the Vietnam War. He earned a Purple Heart fighting with the vanguard 101st Airborne and lost many of his brothers-in arms in this conflict. His army brothers describe him as courageous, putting his life on the line to save others. This courage did not fail him; he faced his end fearlessly on his own terms.
After retiring from the army, Rob took business classes and worked for the labor department connecting veterans with work. This led to a lifelong career, connecting people with
employment.
His charity work during the AIDS epidemic provided funding for organizations such as Leeway in New Haven, CT, where a great many sufferers were given the attention they so desperately needed. Rob was a board member and dedicated worker for "Bread for Friends", a non-profit which helps recovering people with short term needs when the unexpected causes hardship.
Besides hundreds of friends and people he helped, Robert leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Judith; his sister Catherine Murphy; his children, Lyndsey Hamilton and her husband Manu Kingston, and Francis Alexander Hamilton and his wife Amanda Ratti Hamilton; and two beloved granddaughters, Raleigh Simmonds and Vera Hamilton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 26th at 10am directly at Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Interment with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Donations in Rob's name made out to Bread for Friends and sent to James Carone, 24 High Street, Niantic, CT 06357 are appreciated.
