Solomon, Robert L.

-

Robert (Bob) L. Solomon (91) – Also known affectionately as “The King”, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2021, surrounded by many from his loving family. Bob was born on January 5, 1930 in Harford, CT. He is pre-deceased by his parents Abraham & Matilda Solomon, his brother Morton and his eldest daughter Toby. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years and teenage sweetheart, Marjorie Vogel Solomon (Midge), his son Mark Solomon (Irene), his daughter Debbie Keese (Jimmy) and his son Richard Solomon (Sally) as well as his grandchildren Joshua Solomon (Sohmer), Aaron Solomon, Rachel Solomon, Natalie Monteith (Alex) and Max Solomon. In addition, he has 3 great grandchildren, Leilyn Solomon, Chase Solomon and Jonah Schaaff. Bob graduated from Weaver High School in 1947 after which he attended Milford Preparatory School. He then went on to attend Syracuse University and Hilliard College where he earned a degree in Accounting. Bob retired after 25 years with the IRS, serving in Connecticut until 1968

when he accepted a transfer to Daytona Beach. After retirement he worked for several years perfecting his golf game, running his beach hotdog stand, “The Kings Thing” and preparing tax returns. Bob was a larger than life presence. He was the ultimate Seabreeze High School band parent and “athletic supporter”. He ran the concessions for the band, as a volunteer, at the old Memorial Stadium and chaperoned many a trip with the band. Bob was instrumental in the band traveling to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, CA in 1972. He kept the basketball scorebook like no one else for several years during the 1970's. He knew every official and could tell you if they were going to call a good game or bad. If it was bad, he was certain to let them know it. Bob will be missed by a multitude of Seabreeze Alumni, thousands of customers and consumers of “The Kings Thing” hotdogs, his hundreds of tax clients and of course, his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great

grandchildren, his nephews, cousins and countless friends in Florida, Connecticut and around the country.
