Blue Jays: Reliever Jacob Barnes was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Mets on Saturday for pitching prospect Troy Miller. Barnes, 31, is 1-1 with two saves and a 6.27 ERA over 19 relief appearances this season. He has a 4.53 ERA over his six-year career. He was designated for assignment on Monday, a day after he gave up a tiebreaking grand slam to Fernando Tatis Jr. followed by a home run by Manny Machado in a 7-3 loss to San Diego. Miller, 24, was 3-2 with a 4.93 ERA over seven appearances with High-A Vancouver and Double-A New Hampshire this season. He signed a minor league contract with Toronto in 2018.

Twins: Twins center fielder Byron Buxton was activated from the 10-day injured list for Saturday’s game at the Rangers after being sidelined since May 6 with a right hip strain. Buxton played in three games on a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul, going 5 of 9 with a double, triple, two home runs and seven RBIs. Buxton hasn’t played since the finale of a four-game series against the Rangers. Buxton was hitting .370, second in the major leagues, at the time of the injury. He was leading MLB with a .772 slugging percentage. The Twins optioned utility man Willians Astudillo to St. Paul.

Braves: The CardinalsBraves game in Atlanta on Saturday was postponed because of rain. The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader Sunday at 2:10 p.m. and 7:08 p.m. Under pandemic rules, both games will be scheduled for seven innings. Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright (4-5, 3.95 ERA) and Braves left-hander Drew Smyly (3-3, 5.63) are scheduled to start the opener. Wainwright is 9-4 with a 3.63 ERA in 14 starts and five relief appearances against the Braves. Smyly will face the Cardinals for the second time in his career. Lefty Kwang Hyun Kim (1-4, 3.72) is slated to pitch the nightcap for the Cardinals. The Braves’ starter was unclear.

Yankees: Gio Urshela stayed in the game despite a shard of a broken bat hitting an eye and hit a go-ahead homer after the Yankees rallied from a three-run deficit in a 7-5 victory Saturday that stopped the Athletics’ seven-game winning streak. Aroldis Chapman struck out Matt Chapman on a 103.4 mph pitch to strand two runners in the ninth. His final pitch was Chapman’s fastest on a strikeout since the 2017 AL wild card game and the fastest on a strikeout of any big league pitcher since Jordan Hicks reached 104.1 mph on April 21, 2019, with the Cardinals, according to MLB Statcast.

Marlins: Adam Duvall homered twice for the second straight game, Pablo López pitched one-hit ball over seven innings and the Marlins pounded the Cubs 11-1 on Saturday. The Marlins have outscored the NL Central leaders 21-3 through the first two games and put themselves in position to sweep their first series since winning both wild-card games against the Cubs last fall.

Mets: Francisco Lindor had five RBIs on a pair of two-run homers and run-scoring single for his first big offensive game with the Mets, a 5-1 victory over the Nationals on Saturday in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. Lindor homered in the first on a sinker from Joe Ross (3-7), singled in the third on a changeup for a 3-0 lead and homered in the fifth on a slider for his 12th multi-homer game.
