Bowman, Leanora
Leanora Bowman, 85 of Bloomfield, transitioned peacefully on Saturday July 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Leonora was born in Chaline, Jamaica, January 29, 1936, to the late Gerline Watson and Herby Campbell. She migrated to the United States in the early 1970's. Leanora was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor, outgoing spirit and had a heart that was totally filled with kindness, care and compassion for everyone she knew and encountered.
Leanora loved to entertain and socialize with her family and friends and together created memories that will last a lifetime. Her and the family faithfully ate Thanksgiving and Easter dinner at the family home in Waterbury. She was a great cook and delighted in cultural foods, especially rice and peas, chicken soup and beef soup.
Leanora had a personal relationship with God. She
enjoyed listening to music. Often you could find her listening to Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, and Marvin Gaye. She enjoyed traveling internationally, vacationing on cruises, going to the casino, specifically the slots, and off-track betting.
Leonora leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Joyce Beckford; three sons, Glen Campbell of Bloomfield, Martin Bowman of Bloomfield, Morris Jones of Windsor; six grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Leanora was preceded in
death by her sister, Loney Campbell, her brother, Clifton Campbell, and aunt Stibell Campbell.
The family will receive friends Friday July 30, 2021, from 10am-12pm with a celebration of life to follow at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Road, Windsor.
