Rogers, Faye Marie (Locke)
Faye Marie Locke Rogers, beloved wife of the late Reverend John A. Rogers, daughter of the late Vernon L. Locke and Mabel G. Locke died peacefully on July 13, 2021. Faye had been a resident of Rocky Hill since 2001 and prior to that lived in Wethersfield for 31 years.
She was born in Enfield, NC and graduated from Enfield Graded School in 1955. She was a member of the National Beta Club Honor Society, North Carolina
Girls State Representative, and was an all star on the Enfield High School basketball team. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC in 1959 with a BA degree in American History and double minors in French and Education. Upon graduation she was hired as Assistant Curator in the Duke University Library Manuscript Department, and this is where she met her
husband, John.
Faye and John married in 1962 then moved to New York City where John completed his degree in Divinity. Faye worked as an Executive Secretary for Nelson Roberts & Associates on Madison Avenue.
In 1963 they moved to Wethersfield, CT where she was a substitute schoolteacher. In 1966 they moved to Oxford, CT and Faye was a Special Education teacher in neighboring town Seymour. In 1970 they returned to Wethersfield, CT where she was a Data Processing Librarian at the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford for 10 years and another 2 years as an Executive Secretary in Travelers Law department. She had also been a Secretary at Central Baptist Church and Temporary Employee at St Joseph College.
Faye was an active member at Trinity Episcopal Parish
in Wethersfield, CT. She served on the Altar Guild, was member of the church choir, served as Chalice Bearer and pianist for the Children's Chapel Services and was also a Church School Teacher.
Faye enjoyed cooking, entertaining, reading and playing bridge and cherished time spent with family and friends.
Faye is survived by son, John M Rogers of Wethersfield, CT and by her son and daughter-in-law Chad M Rogers and Denise M Rogers of Rocky Hill, CT. She is also survived by her sister Linda and husband J Lafayette Bunch of Rocky Mount, NC along with nephew Jesse Lafayette
Bunch and wife Iva and children of Wilmington, NC, niece Amy Woosley and husband Kirk and children of Charlotte, NC and nephew Gregory Bunch and wife Jacqueline and children of Whitakers, NC.
A mass of celebration for Faye and her husband John will be at The Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle in Rocky Hill on July 31, 2021, at 11:00am. Internment will be private at the convenience of the family.
