William “Bill” Kalwat, 82, of Plainville, husband of Bonnie (Sandquist) Kalwat, passed away Wednesday (July 28) at Apple Rehab of the Farmington Valley in Plainville. Born in New Britain, son of the late Edward and Martha (Teffs) Kalwat, he lived in Plainville for the past 48 years. A graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1957, Bill served with the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a case administra­tor at Aetna in Hartford for 25 years, retiring in 1990. Bill was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in New Britain and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Bill and Bonnie spent 37 years vacationin­g in Aruba, an island that truly held a special place in his heart.

Besides his wife Bonnie, he leaves a daughter, Elizabeth Struble and her husband Stephen of Bristol; his newly arrived grandson, Finn William Struble; a sister, Carol Wolf of Granville, MA; and a niece, Gretchen Wolf in Massachuse­tts. Besides his parents, Bill

was predecease­d by a brother, Edward Kalwat and a brother-in-law, Robert Wolf.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 99 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain, is assisting the family with
