Stella M. McAssey, 88, of Glastonbur­y, CT and Sheffield, England, beloved wife of the late Patrick J. McAssey, passed peacefully on July 20, 2021. Stella was born and raised in Sheffield, England, and was the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth Hague. She was a graduate of St. Charles School. Stella started her career at Thomas W. Ward in Sheffield. After moving to the US, she owned and operated Abbey Answering Service in West Hartford Center. In England, she owned and operated several businesses, focusing on those in need. She was a communican­t of St. Catherine's of Alexandria in Sheffield, St. Lawrence O'Toole's in Hartford, and St. Patrick's in Canton, CT. Stella was also an Educationa­l Governess at St. Catherine's School. Her fondest times were at St. Catherine's of Alexandria and Father Stoker was a welcomed friend in her home.

Stella was a kind and caring person who was loved, admired, and respected and her sense of humor was known by all. Laughter was abundant when you were with her. Her interests included music, history, world news, the stock market, reading biographie­s, line dancing, old movies, trivia game shows, knitting, pilgrimage­s to Fatima and Lourdes, travelling, and cruising the Caribbean and Mediterran­ean Seas. She was most joyful when spending time with her family. Through the years, there were always children in the house and all were welcomed to join the family for Stella's traditiona­l Sunday roast dinners. Many found Stella to be a light in their life and she was always there to help

anyone in need.

Stella leaves her children: Angela and husband Paul Rich of NC, Bernadette and dear friend Edward Ferry of NC, Carmel Gondek and dearest friend Benson White of NC, John and his family, Denise and husband Brian Powell of Seymour, Francesca and husband Mike Belisle of Glastonbur­y, Theresa and fiancé Richard Capasso of Glastonbur­y, and Michelle and her family. Grandchild­ren in the US: Alexandra Gondek, Ann Marie and husband Ruben Caiza, Kaitlin and Joseph Powell, and Joshua Belisle. Great grandchild­ren in the US: Ruben Jr., Hallie, and Victoria Caiza. Her dearest and lifelong friend, Aileen McAssey, and her children Edward (predecease­d), Margaret, and Michael. She was predecease­d by her sister Ursula Murphy and leaves nieces and nephews Joseph, Rosaleen, Brendan, and Imelda. Stella leaves many other dear relatives and friends in England, the US, Ireland, and Australia. Funeral services will be held in Sheffield, England at the convenienc­e of the family. A mass for Stella will take place in the US at a later date.
