- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

Margaret "Peggy" Dagney, of Chester, peacefully passed on August 5th, 2021 surrounded by her family and love. Her joyful, brave spirit and endless courage will live on in our hearts forever. Peggy made the brave decision to forgo cancer treatment after years of health complications. Although her body was weak, her strength and humor was present and a great comfort to her family during this incredibly difficult time. Her beloved son, Keith, grandson Beckett, and daughter in law Tosh Urbowicz, were able to spend her last days with her laughing and sharing memories. Her last wishes were selfless- to continue on, take care of each other and know that Grammy is always our angel. Peggy was born in New London, CT to her parents Mildred and Frances Dagney. She was one of eight children, and was very close to her twin brother, Mickey, and siblings Patty, Terry, Linda and Butchy. She is predeceased by her sisters Kathy and Carlene, who she missed terribly. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Peggy grew up in Old Saybrook but settled in Chester. Her only son, and greatest joy, Keith Urbowicz, was born on November 26th, 1978. When asked what the best day of her life was- it was the day Keith was born. Peggy raised Keith to be strong and independent and the two of them were incredibly

close. Peggy owned a cleaning business, and true to her nature, became very close friends with many of her clients. She enjoyed traveling- Disney world, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest were just a few of her favorite trips. She loved her cats, gardening, and crocheting. She made beautiful blankets and hats for Beckett, which will be treasured forever. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends, and was a lobster roll connoisseur. Peggy enjoyed the small treasures in life- a good cup of coffee in the morning, going out for breakfast and sitting in the sunshine. Her grandson, Beckett, was the 'light of her life', and the two spent quite a bit of time together reading books, coloring, and cuddling. Grammy always had treats and toys for Beckett; they were two 'peas in a pod'. We choose not to dwell on how young Peggy was when she passed and the battle her body went through the past few years, but instead focus on the joy she brought to this world. Through out

all of her challenges, Peggy always thought of her family first and kept us laughing. Her care team at Chesterfield became friends to her and her family, and it was a great comfort to know how well she was taken care of. To say Peggy will be greatly missed is an understatement. We take comfort in knowing that she is our angel, and making her sisters and 'Nan and Pop' chuckle in heaven. Peggy was the best mother, grandmother, sister and friend you could ever have and to know her, was to love her.

Calling hours for Margaret will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 10am-11:30am at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook, Connecticut 06475, followed by a memorial service at 11:30am at

the funeral home.
