Fifth-inning rally dooms Yard Goats as they drop 3rd in a row at Binghamton

Quinn Brodey hit a sacrifice fly with one out and Edgardo Fermin hit a two-run double to right with two out in a three-run fifth inning as the Rumble Ponies defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 4-1 on Saturday

evening at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton, New York.

The Yard Goats (29-59) lost their third in a row after a four-game winning streak. They wrap up the six-game series and 12-game road trip Sunday at 1 p.m. It will be the final meeting between the teams this season.

Carlos Rincon hit a homer to left in the sixth for Binghamton (39-48).

For the Yard Goats, Jose Gomez scored in the ninth inning when Coco Montes reached on a throwing error.

Jose Butto (3-0) limited the Yard Goats to two hits and a walk in six scoreless innings, striking out eight. Hartford managed only three hits in the game.

Yard Goats starter David Hill (1-3) gave up six hits and four runs, one earned, in six innings, striking out four. Reliever Brian Gonzalez finished for Hartford, giving up one hit but striking out three in the eighth.

Hartford returns home Tuesday to begin a six-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
