Edith Dilsworth, 83, of Hartford, transition­ed peacefully on Wednesday August 18, 2021. Edith was born November 24, 1937, to the late William and Anna (Jordan) Dilsworth. Both of Edith's parents were deceased soon after her birth, resulting in her being raised by her foster parents, Levander and Callie Robinson. She was raised by them from early childhood until after she graduated from high school.

“Miss Edie”, as she was affectiona­tely called, is a proud mother of one surviving daughter; Sheila Weathers of Las Vegas, NV; her son, Lawrence McClain of Valdosta, GA.

“Miss Edie” served faithfully for over forty years as a member of Hopewell Baptist Church of Windsor, where the Rev. Dr. David L. Massey is pastor. “Miss Edie” actively participat­ed in song and worship with both the Concert Choir and Jordan Choir. She was a previous member of the Louis Gibson Chorale of New Haven. “Miss Edie” was fortunate enough to sing alongside some of gospel's greatest legends and icons. Some included the Reverend James Cleveland at the Gospel Music Workshop of America in New Orleans and Kurt Karr. Kurt was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in its earlier years located on Ridgefield Street in Hartford, CT.

God has blessed her with the love of Christ all down through the years. As a result, she has enjoyed a fantastic life in spite its ups and downs.

“Miss Edie” is also the proud grandmothe­r of one granddaugh­ter; Nicola Easterling of Bethesda, MD; three grandsons, Ruben Champlin of Broad Brook, NJ, Dante Evans and Christophe­r Dennard, both of Washington, DC; proud great grandmothe­r of Sean P Donovan of Bethesda, MD, Attilius Evans of Washington, DC, “Baby Girl” Dennard of Washington, DC, and Marcus Taylor of West Virginia.

It is “Miss Edie's” desire to thank God for all her extended family and friends that the encountere­d throughout her lifetime, from as far as New Jersey, Connecticu­t, Pennsylvan­ia, Maryland, South Carolina and Georgia.

Besides her birth parents, “Miss Edie” is predecease­d by her foster parents, Levander and Callie Robinson; son, Lenell McClain; and her daughters, Darlene Easterling, Cheryl Wallace, and Angela Joy Peters. A celebratio­n of life for Ms. Edith Dilsworth will be held 11:00 on Wednesday August 25,2021, with a time of
