Edna J. Solesky, 82, of East Granby, beloved wife for 56 years of Raymond M. Solesky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Edna was born in Torrington, daughter of the late Leo and Mabel (Blake) Odell, and was raised by her Aunt, Ida Blake, when her mother passed away when she was a young girl. She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School and was employed by Hartford Hospital as a Unit Secretary, retiring after 30 years of service. Edna was a faithful member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Joseph Church, in Poquonock.

Edna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmothe­r. Her family will fondly remember her as a caring and giving woman whose family meant the world to her. Edna's greatest joy was raising her daughter and being a part of her grandchild­ren's lives. She especially enjoyed watching Steven and Morgan grow up and attending their school and sporting events.

Edna and Raymond enjoyed camping in their younger years and, after they retired, loved travel together, especially to Cape Cod in the Fall. She also enjoyed

going to the casino and watching UCONN Women's basketball.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Julie Mattil and her husband Kenneth, who took care of her and who she loved like a son, of East Granby; her grandchild­ren, Steven Mattil and his fiancee Kimberly Ramos of Newington, and Morgan Mattil of East Granby; as well as other relatives and dear friends, especially her wonderful friends, Arlene Dudack and Lois McHugh, who always made sure she stayed active and took her out to different places.

Besides her parents and her Aunt Ida, she was predecease­d by her brother, Guild Odell.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, August 23, 5-7 p.m., at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, and on Tuesday, 9 a.m., for a procession

to St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., Poquonock, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, East Granby. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edna may be made to the Granby Ambulance Assoc., 1 Pegville Rd, Granby, CT 06035.
