- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

June A. (Pappas) Henry, 74, of South Windsor, loving wife of 52 years to Paul L. Henry, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 20, 2021, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. June passed within the comfort of her home surrounded by her cherished family. June was born on June 30, 1947 in Buffalo, New York, the only child of the late Constantine and Evelyn (Wurster) Pappas. She was

raised in the Buffalo suburb of West Seneca, New York, and graduated from West Seneca High School in 1965. She then attended and graduated from the State University College at Buffalo in 1968, where she earned a BA in elementary education. She taught grade school in West Seneca for the next year, and after their marriage in June, 1969, they moved to Connecticut where Paul had accepted a position in the Materials Engineering Dept. at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Although June had part-time jobs at certain periods in her life, she embraced the role of wife, mother, and homemaker throughout her life. She very much longed

for simpler times, and often said, “If it were only 1957.” June was an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction books as well as the daily newspapers which offered the crossword puzzles she enjoyed completing each day. Very much interested in the growth of our nation, she and Paul traveled to many state capitol seats of government, points of historical significance, and museums along the East Coast. June was a gifted hand quilter and seamstress. She cared for her yard meticulously, and she was an enthusiastic gardener in spite of the squirrels, chipmunks, and woodchucks that sometimes undid her best efforts. Pansies were her favorite flower, giving June something colorful to eagerly greet

in the early spring. She was constantly on the lookout for a wide variety of flowers that would give color to the garden throughout the year. In addition to her loving husband Paul, June leaves her two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Glenn Hart of Suffield and Karen and Timothy Roy of Stonington, and her two special and loved grandchildren, Adam Hart and Julia Hart. June was a kind and compassionate person. She loved her family and spending time with them. June will be truly missed by all who knew her. June and Paul would like to thank the entire staff of the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut, and especially a heartfelt thank-you to Donna L., who provided extraordinary care and support to June and her family. Family and friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road in South Windsor, on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, with words of remembrance to be shared by her family at 2:30 PM. Please note that due to a town ordinance, all attendants will be required to wear a mask throughout their visit. Casual dress is encouraged. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, it would please June to have everyone perform acts of kindness and cherish every day you have with family and friends.
