Carol Ann (Dunning) Pound, 84, of Bloomfield and formerly

of West Hartford, beloved wife to the late Russell F. Pound, Jr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Carol was born on September 7, 1936, in Boston, MA, daughter to the late Martin V. and Kathleen (Cullis) Dunning. Carol grew up in Mystic where she adored her days sailing on Mason's Island. She graduated in 1954 from the Robert

E. Fitch High School in Groton. She attended Centenary College for Women where she graduated in 1956 with an associate degree in early childhood education. She became a Nursery School teacher in New London after graduating. Carol married Russell F. Pound, Jr. on February 23, 1957. They began their 60 years of marriage in New London before then moving on to live in Stonington, Ledyard and finally settling in West Hartford for thirty years where they raised their beloved family before moving to Bloomfield. Carol enjoyed all of her worldly travels with Russell. Carol was a member of the Red Hat Society for a number of years. She was a volunteer reader at a daycare facility in Bloomfield and

volunteere­d her time to the American Cancer Society. Carol leaves her daughters, Debra Sponzo and her husband Frank, Jr. of East Granby, Sandra Davey and Lee Ann Eshenbaugh both of San Diego, CA. She also leaves behind the greatest joys of her life, her six grandchild­ren, Jennifer Dyer and her husband Jeffrey, Jr., Kelly Davey and her fiancé Anthony Agnone, Anthony Sponzo and his wife Kerry, Zackary Eshenbaugh and Thomas Eshenbaugh and Christophe­r Davey and his wife Jennifer; her ten great-grandchild­ren; Jeffrey, Parker, Charlie and Taylor Dyer, Devon Williams and Anthony Agnone, Hunter and Ava Sponzo, Cameron and Brooklyn Davey; brother Martin Dunning and his wife Nanako; sister-in-law Karen Pound and dearest friend Nancy Flanzer..

Carol's family would like to thank the staff at Seabury Meadows for their four years of care provided to her. Services will be held at the convenienc­e of the family.
