Michael S. Astone, 61, of Somers, husband of Cynthia (Rollins) Astone, entered into eternal peace, surrounded by

his loving family and devoted friend Jim, on Friday, September 3, 2021, in Westerly, Rhode Island. Born in San Francisco, CA, on September 7, 1959, Michael was the son of the late Angelo and Frances (Lahann) Astone. He resided with his family in Somers CT, for over 30 years, where he proudly coached his childrens’ athletic teams, attended their concert and play performances, served as a member of the Lions Club, as well as a Deacon for Somers Congregational Church.

Mike graduated from Shelton High School and maintained his childhood friendships with Chip and Brian throughout his life. He completed his BS in Finance from Fairfield University, Class of ‘81. He loved reconnecting with his college friends and recently enjoyed participating a college reunion golf tournament with his special friends, Eddie, Kevin, Rick, and Kenny, who remained devoted. Mike was employed as a Managing Director with Babson Capital/Barings Financial Services for 32 years, where he formed lifelong friendships with Jim, Pat, and Derek. He had a passion for history and loved visiting battlefields. He loved traveling, taking in and “reliving the history” of places he visited. He especially loved recalling his European vacation, taken with his wife and children, as well as his many trips taken to California, to visit family, and Washington D.C. He had a passion for college football and began the special tradition of attending games with his devoted son. Go Buckeyes!! He loved golfing with family and friends and sharing “that one shot of the day”, that kept him “coming back”. He began each day with “the opening bell” of the stock market and ended each day with viewing ‘The Five’. We could never forget his absolute passion for Frank Pepe and his infamous New Haven Pizza, as well as every other Pepe’s location in between. He was beyond proud of his three children and loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoying the beaches and fresh sea air of Westerly Rhode Island.

Besides his caring wife Cindy, Michael is survived by his loving children, Lauren, Alison, and Stephen. His loving sisters, Susan Sell, her husband and friend Joe of Wilton, CT, and Sandra Beacham of Shelton, CT., his brother-in-law Chris Mester of Clinton, CT, brother-inlaw Wally Rollins and his wife Sally of Milford, CT, and nine loving nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his sister Karen Astone Mester and father and mother in-law, Walton and Theresa Rollins.
