Hartford Athletic skid continues in 2-0 loss at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Hartford Athletic losing streak reached five as Sylvain Marveaux scored a pair of goals to lead the Charlotte Independen­ce to a 2-0 USL Championsh­ip win on Saturday.

Hartford (8-11-3) has lost seven of its last eight and is now alone in sixth place with 27 points, seven behind Charlotte, which holds the last playoff position in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and Miami have solid holds on the top three places in the division with the top four teams making for the postseason.

Marveaux got Charlotte on the board in the first half, taking a pass from Irvin Parra and beating Athletic goalie Jeff Caldwell at 36 minutes. He picked up his second goal atd 54 minutes off an assist from Enzo Martinez. Austin Pack earned the shutout in goal for Charlotte (10-8-4).
