D'Amato, Patricia A.

-

Patricia A. (Reilly) D'Amato entered into eternal rest on September 16, 2021 at home with her family in East Haddam, CT after enduring cancer treatment with a tenacity befitting her Bronx roots as the daughter of an NYPD patrolman. Before she retired to East Haddam, Pat's Vernon home was the preferred after-school hangout of her kids' friends from the neighborhood, mainly because of her well-appointed snack pantry and soda fridge. Among her wide circle of friends and family, Pat was famous for her cooking and baking – her party appetizers were legendary; her Christmas cookie trays worth their weight in gold. Pat's most enduring legacy is the impact she had on kids: her own, her grandchildren, the kids she taught at Claude Chester Elementary School, Maple Street School, and the Mount Olive Child Development Center, and the kids from Willow Point in Mystic. Pat will remain forever in the heart of her beloved husband of 50 years, David M. D'Amato, Sr., her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Lindsay D'Amato and their kids, Nick, Lia, and Lacey D'Amato, and her daughter Suzanne D'Amato. Memorial services will be private. The family hopes that friends will remember Pat with a smile the next time they cook or bake for their family, read a book to a child, or hug their children and grandchildren.
