Ernest J. Mooney, 89 of Windsor, beloved husband of Jean (Slack) Mooney passed away on September 9, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Easton, MD on February 22, 1932 to the late John and Mary Moaney and was the youngest of 12. After graduating at 17, Ernest enrolled in the Army and was stationed in Korea as a surgical technician in a MASH unit. Upon returning to the states, he worked many jobs, until he started his career as a machinist at Chandler Evans and then Emhart, where he worked there for many years before retiring from Teledyne Firth Sterling in West Hartford. In his spare time he was always on the lookout for tag sales, flea markets and antique stores. He spent many an hour restoring old trunks and pad locks; for which he had won numerous awards. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. From the

moment they were born, he was a constant fixture in their lives. He enjoyed being involved in all their activities and accomplishments, and was extremely proud of them, always finding ways to work their names into his conversations. Ernest is survived by his wife, Jean with whom he just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary, daughter, Michele Ann St Amand and her husband Paul, and two grandchildren, Andrew Ernest St Amand and Jessica Reed St Amand, special niece Edna Poney and her son Keith, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and caregivers at St. Francis Medical Center, VA hospitals in Newington and West Haven, and Masonicare. Their care and compassion during this

time was unmatched.
