Lucy (Gryszkiewicz) Drozd, 77, of Batterson Drive, New Britain, died on September 16, 2021 with her eldest son by her side. Born in Suchowola, Poland on October 13, 1943, Lucy came to the United States as a young woman with her parents and siblings. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hartford in 1969 and soon after became a United States citizen. After a career in education, Lucy married Ronald Drozd and chose to dedicate her life to caring for her family. She and Ron were married for 39 years until his death in 2010, and together they had three children. Lucy was a devout Catholic who attended mass at Sacred Heart Church in New Britain daily prior to the pandemic. A sweet and kind woman who loved gardening and the beach, people often secretly admitted they liked her better than their own mothers. Lucy joins her husband and parents, Edward and Maria (Jarmoszko) Gryszkiewicz, in heaven. Lucy is survived by her loving children and their families - son Steven and Monica of Glastonbury; son Michael and Veronica and grandsons, Jaden, Logan, and

Brennan of Unionville; and daughter Melinda Cook and her husband, Joshua, and granddaughters Alenka and Zosia of Boston, MA. She is also survived by her sister

Krystyna Wislo, nephew Steven and niece Valerie; brother Andrew Gryszkiewicz and his wife, Shannon,

nieces Alina and Diana; sister-in-law Carolyn Drozd; and so many cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 27th, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. To share a memory with her family, please visit us at www.duksa. net.
