Nielson, Jr., Harry A.

Harry Anders Nielson Jr., 90, husband of the late Harriet (Bertsche) Nielson, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021.

He was born August 12th, 1931 in Hartford, son of the late Harry A. and Mildred (Snow) Nielson, and raised in West Hartford.

Harry began his career with New England Alloy Casting Company in Hartford, was later associated with Quaker Alloy and eventually retired from PJ Valve Company. He was a hardworking man who had a passion for woodworking, which included building his own home in 1954 and remodeling his lake home in Maine. Harry enjoyed his summers on Brandy Pond in Naples, Maine with his family and friends. He loved traveling with Harriet in his younger years, enjoyed golfing, and nice cars, of which he had many.

Harry is survived by his two sons and their wives, Harry (Andy) and Heidi (Adams) Nielson and Jeffrey and Terry (McDermott) Nielson, his grandchildren, Brett, Ryan and Christian Nielson, George Grillo and Nicole Blair, his three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Maci and Colton Blair and his beloved dog, Sadie. He was predeceased

by his son, Douglas Nielson, and his sister, Betty Pierce. The family would like to extend a special thank you to

his nurse Dina and the Masonicare Hospice team of nurses and caregivers. Also a very special thank you to his caregiver, Peggy, who worked tirelessly to ensure that Harry was comfortable and well cared for.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Tuesday (Sept. 28) from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday (Sept. 29) at 11:30am in The Ahern Funeral Home followed by burial in Mt. View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
