Mary Alice Weissenborn, 68, of Ellington, Connecticut, passed away on September 18, 2021, at Hartford Hospital from complications due to the Covid-19 virus. Daughter of the late Dr. Walter and Ella (La Bounty) Weissenborn, she was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on July 16, 1953, and was raised on Terry Road, “the Hood,” where she made life-long friends. Mary Alice attended Noah Webster School, Watkinson School and the State University of New York

at Canton. She moved to California in the 1970's and thrived living in San Francisco and working at AMFAC before moving to Los Angeles. After ten years on the West Coast, Mary Alice returned to Connecticut, where she worked at Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, then at United Technologies and finally, at Traveler's Insurance Company, retiring in 2019.

Mary Alice was known for her infectious sense of humor and big smile. She made friends easily wherever she went. At Christmastime, people looked forward to receiving her tins of Chex mix or her jars of prizewinning, homemade “bread & butter” pickles, using a recipe handed down by her mother. She volunteered for many years as an usher at the Bushnell in Hartford, and regularly attended plays at local theaters. Mary Alice enjoyed life, whether visiting local friends or taking trips and cruises, attending events of her friends' children, or traveling to see her cousins in New Hampshire and upstate New York. She brought fun and laughter to any gathering and will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in

2020 by her brother, Walter Weissenborn, of Guilford, Connecticut. She leaves behind several cousins, including the Lee and Elaine Alexander family of Durham, New Hampshire, as well as the Butch and Laurie Goodrow family of St. Regis Falls, New York. She also leaves her long-time friends, the Shafer and Schackner families, Ann Dressler and the “Solstice Sisters,” Cindy Couillard, Diane McAndrews, and Anne Newhall. Special thanks to all those who cared for Mary Alice at Brookdale in

South Windsor and at Hartford Hospital. At her request, there will be no service. Donations in her memory can be made to the Elizabeth Park Conservancy, 1561 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, CT. 06117.
