Diaby pick-six clinches Tolland win

A Malik Diaby 66-yard intercepti­on return for a touchdown sealed the win for Tolland, as the Eagles (3-0) held off Hartford Public for a 39-28 win in a CCC Tier 4 home game Saturday afternoon.

Nathan Bowes rushed for two scores and passed for a third and Mitchell Enman kicked a 27-yard field goal for Tolland. Christian Garcia’s third touchdown pass of the afternoon had pulled the Owls (2-2) within a score before Diaby’s pick-six.

South Windsor 33, E.O. Smith 7: Ethan LaGuardia accounted for three touchdowns as South Windsor (2-2) cruised to a CCC Tier 4 home win over E.O. Smith (1-3). LaGuardia passed for 204 yards and two TDs (both to Anthony Maddox) and rushed for a third. Brayden Dill added two rushing TDs for the Bobcats. Adam Bovain rushed for a TD for the lone Panther score.

CREC co-op 20, Old Saybrook/Westbrook 6: Two intercepti­on return TDs led the Colts (1-3) to their first win this season in a Pequot Sassacus win at home in Enfield. Alex Grice (28 yards) and Jayden Gist (23 yards) both had picksixes for CREC and Kemar Wright added a 65-yard TD run. Gregor McCormack had a 5-yard TD run for the Rams (0-3).

Friday’s late games

Bristol Central 35, Farmington 29:

Five rushing touchdowns from Victor Rosa propelled the Rams (3-1) over the River Hawks (0-4) in a CCC Tier 4 road game. Rosa rushed for over 300 yards, including 250 on TD runs. Kevin Ives tossed four TDs, including three in the fourth quarter to bring Farmington back within a score.

Newington 56, Middletown 34:

Padraig Brown passed for 331 yards and six touchdowns to help the Nor’Easters (4-0) win a CCC Tier 2 shootout at Middletown (0-4). Austyn Howe caught two and ran for two TDs for Newington. Colin Skene had three passing TDs, including two to Eddie Strong, and Shaun Gaskins rushed for two scores for the Blue Dragons.

Simsbury 27, Glastonbur­y 19:

The Trojans (2-2) outlasted the Guardians (0-4) in a CCC Tier 1 home game behind John Mairano’s 201 rushing yards and three TDs. Evan Wallace added another 64 yards and a score on the ground. John Petone rushed for 139 yards and two TDs for

Glastonbur­y.

Lewis Mills 20, East Catholic 15: Three different players scored as the Spartans (2-2) edged the Eagles (1-3) in a CCC Tier 4 home game. Seamus Hannon and James Roben each rushed for a score and Jack Stanislaw found Logan Cowger in the end zone. Mathieu Zazzaro connected with Benjamin Carso for the two Eagle TDs.

Coginchaug co-op 21, Stafford co-op 14: Braden Lankarge tossed three touchdowns, including two to Chris Progano, to lead the Blue Devils (4-0) past the Bulldogs (2-2) in a Pequot Inter road game. For Stafford, Mark McLaughlin had 165 rushing yards and passed for two TDs, both to Logan Briggs.

Cromwell/Portland 41, Haddam-Killingwor­th 3: Cole Brisson accounted for three TDs as the Panthers (2-0) rolled past H-K in a Pequot Sassacus home game. Alex Hair also had two rushing TDs for Cromwell. Kevin Cavrell had a 27-yard field goal for the lone Cougar (1-2) score.

Sheehan 32, Weston 14: The Titans (2-1) ran past Weston (1-2) in a non-conference home game, behind 213 yards and two touchdowns from Jacob Shook.
