Joan M. dePreaux, 96, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2021. Joan was born in Larksville, PA to the late Gene and Celestine Dougherty. She was on of six children. Joan left PA at 17 years old and moved to New York City, where she pursued nursing. Joan earned her BS and worked at St. Clare's Hospital. From there she joined the Army and went on to become a Lieutenant serving in the Korean War in a mobile MASH Unit. She met her husband Paul in Korea and went on to Japan to be married. There were married 38 years. Joan, affectiona­tely known as Gam to all, made her home with her daughter, where she lived the past 25 years. She was quiet, reserved, tough, funny, a great cook and the most loving mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r to not only family, but everyone who came into her life. How very lucky we were to

have you, how hard it is to say goodbye.

Joan is survived by her sons Bill dePreaux of Wethersfie­ld, Al dePreaux of Marston Mills, MA, and her daughter Michelle Defurio of Wethersfie­ld. She will also be lovingly remembered by her greatest joys, grandchild­ren Jay dePreaux, Steve dePreaux and his wife Ashley, Nicole Nehmer and her husband Scott, Kalika Jenson and her husband Kyle, Kiara dePreaux, Mike Defurio, John dePreaux, Hunter Defurio and James dePreaux as well as her sweetheart­s, Bryce, Liam, Gabe, Addie, Sophie, Ryan and Skye. Joan was predecease­d by her husband Paul. A special thank you
