Janis (Cotton) Robinson, 95, of Middletown, CT, formerly of Woodbury, NJ, beloved wife of the late Douglas Yohannes Robinson, died Monday October 4, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, CT. Janis was born in Vineland, NJ, daughter of the late T. Earl Cotton and Myrtle (Jenkins) Cotton. Her family moved to Woodbury, NJ, where she graduated from Woodbury High School in 1943. Janis graduated from Southern Seminary and Junior College in 1945 with a degree in Merchandising. She enjoyed commuting to Philadelphia for work at Dewees and then Girard Trust Bank. Later, as a stay at home mom, she was the glue that held us all together, lovingly devoting herself to children, husband and home.

Janis was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury where she volunteered, helped

whenever asked, and encouraged her children's Christian education.

She also volunteered for over 30 years at the former Underwood Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed helping patients and visitors.

Janis had a passion for plants. She knew the Common

and Latin names for most indoor and outdoor florae. She had beautiful gardens around the house in Woodbury. The progeny of her plants now brightens the gardens of her children. Her gardening advice was to always add a splash of yellow!

Janis and Doug, who was the love of her life, were

blessed with a long retirement. They spent their time with kids and grandkids and great grandchildren, their wonderful lifelong friends (the “gang”), Timi and Denny and pursuing their love of travel in and out of the US. Ocean City, Great Britain, a world cruise leg to Japan, China, and Hongkong were among their favorite destinations. If asked for the highlight of her travels, Janis would tell you it was the great Wall of China.

Disney World held a special place in their hearts, enjoying many visits over the years. Upon discovering their picture on a Disney World brochure, Janis parlayed the use of their image into an extended Disney pass.

Janis is survived by two daughters, JoAnne O'Brien (Eric) of East Haddam, CT, Lynne Hofferica (Dan) of Carlisle, PA, a son, Brett Robinson (Martha dec'd) of Clermont, FL, six grandchildren, Elizabeth Dukart (Chris), Grant Robinson (Ashleigh), Jake Hofferica (fiancé Sarah), Grace Hofferica (fiancé Dino), Colin O'Brien,

Lydia O'Brien, five great grandchildren, Sam Dukart, Matthew Dukart, Parker Robinson, Olivia Robinson, and Colton Robinson, and a niece, Timothi Anne Mole Smith (Dennis) of Florida. Janis was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Cotton Mole.

A private family Burial and celebration of Janis and Doug's lives will be held for family at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial donations to Disabled American Vets - DAV. org. To share memories or express condolences online please visit www.biegafuneralhome.com.
