GOP and ‘irony’ go hand-in-hand

-

Oct. 2 was designated as “national irony day.” There should be prizes, and I’ve got nominees: Former Vice President Mike Pence heard the mob on Jan. 6 yell “hang Mike Pence,” but he still won’t condemn them, and appears willing to hang with many of his fellow Republicans in that position. Fox News requires its employees to be vaccinated. Its loudest voice — Tucker Carlson — refuses to suggest to his followers and viewers to do likewise. Former President Donald Trump got himself and his family vaccinated as soon as possible, but is the only former president who has chosen not to make a commercial suggesting his devotees take this very protective option. The former golfer-in-chief is spending much more time saving par than saving lives, but does that make him the real winner?

The answer is they are all part of the winning team because what better champions of contradictions are there than pro-lifers cheering on anti-vaxxers? If that ain’t championship irony, what is?
