Daniel Thomas Mitchell, 67, of East Hartland, CT and Otisfield, ME., passed away unexpected­ly on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at his home in East Hartland. Born in Hartford, CT., on April 27, 1954, beloved son of the late Alfred and Lillian (Laughlin) Mitchell, he was raised in East Granby and was a graduate of East Granby High

School, Class of 1972. Dan started his career in the Constructi­on Industry, after working with several local builders, he eventually started his own business, Mitchell Contractin­g. Dan

was well-known throughout the Greater Hartford area for his meticulous work and his attention to detail. He semi-retired in 2020 operating his own business and serving the community for over 40 years. Danny loved his homes and his communitie­s both in East Hartland and Otisfield Maine. He was a retired LT of the East Hartland Volunteer Fire Department and a current member of the Ring Mt. Hunt Club. He was a former constable of East Hartland. As a young man, he vacationed in Maine with his family/friends on Thompson Lake, Otisfield, ME. He loved Maine and eventually purchased property on Thompson Lake, renovated the cottage over the years and had planned on retiring and moving to Maine this year. Most of all, Danny will be remembered for his willingnes­s to help others and his love for his family and friends. If you were a friend of Danny's you were a friend for life! He leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Karen (Mitchell) Van Haltern and her husband Marty of Suffield; two beloved nephews,

Scott Van Haltern and his wife Camren Jones of Springfiel­d, NH, and Mark Van Haltern and his girlfriend, Phoebe Nicholls of Bishop, CA; a great-nephew and great-niece, Finnley and Mara Van Haltern both of whom he adored with all of his heart!, of Springfiel­d, NH; his longtime girlfriend, Carol Leddy of East Hartland; several beloved Aunts, Uncles, many dear cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. His family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 10 a.m.-12 Noon, followed by a memorial service at 12 Noon, at the HayesHulin­g & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
