Torrey, Richard C.

Richard C. Torrey, 79, of Newington, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Bernier) Torrey for 55 years. Born in Vergennes, VT, son of the late Richard and Ruby (Hamel) Torrey, he was a longtime Newington resident and a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Richard honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and received a medal for his service during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Richard retired from Pitney Bowes. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Red Sox. He will be remembered for his generosity, his kind and gentle spirit, his caring nature, and for being an amazing dad. Along with his wife Doris, he leaves his two children, Glenn Torrey and his companion Christina Caulfield of Newington and Megan C. Torrey of Newington. He also leaves his brother Aubert Torrey and his wife Luciann. He leaves his sister and brotherin-law Joan and George Ducharme, and niece and great-niece Alicia and Allison Pierce of Granby. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Torrey. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 3rd, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 4th, at 10:00 a.m. directly at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St. Newington. Military honors will follow the mass outside of the church. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
