Carolyn Fisher Coffin, 94, of West Hartford, CT, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was blessed by supportive friends and family throughout her illness. Carolyn celebrated 60 years of marriage to her husband, Vernon, prior to his passing in 2012, with whom they raised four sons. Carol was an active and beloved community member, an original Elmwood homeowner, and a 70-year member of the Elmwood Community Church.

After graduating from Amherst High School (MA) and the University of Vermont, Carol began teaching in a one-room New Hampshire schoolhous­e before teaching primary grades for Elmwood Elementary School. Following Vernon's heart attack, she returned to teaching second grade for Hartford Public Schools. While balancing work and family, she earned a Master's in Education from Central Connecticu­t State University, prior to teaching English as a Second Language in Hartford.

Carol is survived by her sons, Stephen (Lorna) of

Summit, NJ, Donald (Laura) of Cheshire, CT, James of Baltimore, MD, and Timothy (Kate) of Clarkston, MI; six grandchild­ren, two great-grandchild­ren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, at 2 pm at the Elmwood Community Church, West Hartford. A funeral reception will immediatel­y follow the memorial service.
