Casimir, Julia

Julia Casimir, 90, of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Born in Soufriere, St. Lucia, West Indies on April 11, 1932, to the late Phillipa Altenor and Gonzague Lucien. She was raised in St. Lucia and lived in London, England before immigrating and settling in Hartford, CT in the mid 1960's

with her late husband, John Casimir. A retiree of Hartford YMCA, Julia worked in hospitality for 30 years until her retirement. Julia was also a parishioner of St. Justin-St. Michael Parish, in Hartford, for many years. Julia's absence will be felt by her daughter Joan Harrigan and her husband Shane A.R. Harrigan; her two grandchildren who know her as Mama, Julian A. Harrigan and Sheena Harrigan; her great-grandchildren Jahmeen M. Harrigan, Julian A. Harrigan Jr., and Braelyn Askew-Harrigan as well as her sister in St. Lucia, Mary “Lena” Constantine and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph “Son” Altenor, Peter Altenor, Lucien Altenor, Patrick Altinor, and her sister Mary “Maize” Altenor. Per Julia's wishes, there will be no services. She was happy to connect with those she could, while she was here with us.
