Gaudet, Raymond Arthur

-

Raymond Arthur Gaudet, 81, of Westbrook, CT, died peacefully in his daughter's home on October 8, 2022. He was born on October 12, 1940, in Lawrence, MA to the late Evariste Gaudet and Jeannette Anctil Gaudet.

Mr. Gaudet was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in various locations, but he spoke most fondly (and often) of his time in Alaska. After completing his service to his country, he worked various jobs including a shift supervisor at Pratt & Whitney, a Westbrook Constable (move over Barney Fife), and was also a longtime Westbrook Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of St. Mark's parish where he also took care of the property. He eventually landed with the United States Postal Service as a Rural Letter Carrier where he retired after 30 years. He loved gardening and showing off the beautiful results of his hard work. He especially

was proud of his orchards. He also loved traveling and experienced some beautiful parts of the world with his friends and travel companions at the Westbrook Senior Center where he also served as an officer. After his first retirement from the US Postal Service, he volunteered at the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries for 20 years. He eventually was persuaded into taking on a paying position until his second retirement, and then continued volunteering for a few more years. He was also a proud 48-year/ "Lifetime Member" of the Westbrook Elks, Lodge #1748. He cherished the special

times he had with his granddaughter, Abigail, and loved the adventures and time he spent with Susan and Dave in North Carolina. His presence will not only be missed by his family but the community he served as well. Please join the family in a celebration of Ray's life at the Westbrook Elks Club, 142 Seaside Avenue, Westbrook, CT on November 12th at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Gaudet is survived by his children, Brian M. Gaudet of Westerly, RI, William B. Gaudet of Barrington, RI and Susan L. Anderson(Dave Gallagher) of Bunn, NC; granddaughter, Abigail Kemble of Brookline, MA; sisters, Rita Arsenault(Robert) and Doris Mohs(Larry) all of Ft. Pierce, FL; brother, Robert Gaudet(Joann) of Ft. Pierce, FL; nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Barbara J. Anderson.
