- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

Evelyn (Colantuoni) Hudak, 92, of West Hartford, CT passed away at her home on October 7, 2022. She was born in Cambridge, MA on July 14, 1930, to Italian immigrants Angelo and Clementina Colantuoni. She grew up and lived in Belmont, MA through her early life.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Stephen B. Hudak, Jr.; her brothers Ido (and wife Thelma), Vincent, and Robert Colantuoni; her stepdaughter Ruth E. Marzano and husband James

Marzano; and her sister-in-law Rosemarie Ann Krull.

She is survived by her son Stephen B. Hudak III of Farmington, CT; her stepchildren Mark L. Hudak and wife Bonnie of Jacksonville, FL, Craig M. Hudak and wife Judy of Greenville, SC, James L. Hudak and wife Maria of Spring Lake, NJ, and their collective 9 children; and her 5 nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Fisher Junior College in Boston, MA and worked for many years as an administrative assistant for Baxter Engineering and U.S. Steel in Boston. At U.S. Steel, she met a recently widowed metallurgical engineer who would become the love of her life. They

would marry and settle in West Hartford, CT.

She was welcomed into a robust new family with four stepchildren ranging from age 7 to 17 and in time would have a son of her own. Although they met somewhat later in life, she and her husband would be fortunate to share 38 happy years together of faith, family, and tales of his adventures in the steel business. Her care and advocacy was instrumental against the odds in helping extend her husband's life a few more quality years to enjoy and share with family.

She was a faithful parishioner of St. Timothy's Church for over 50 years having served on both the parish council and the school's parent teacher association. In recent years she was a daily viewer of the ORTV television mass.

She enjoyed cooking (including her popular Italian chicken dishes) and eating (but not dry sandwiches), sharing good conversation, cheering on her favorite teams (or star quarterback), reading the newspaper, keeping up with events of the world, watching a good mystery story, listening to late night radio, and experiencing many of life's other simple pleasures.

She had a strong will, a positive attitude, and cherished her independence. Despite some physical limitations in recent years, she was able to stay home on her own with a little help from her son and watchful neighbors (whom she sincerely appreciated).

She will be greatly missed, but always remembered as

a loving and supportive mother, wife, and friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 21st at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06117. Visiting hour will precede the mass starting at 9 AM in the church. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. Donations in her memory may be made to ORTV, Inc. in support of the daily television mass. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www. molloyfuneralhome.com
