UConn hockey offense awakens in win over Ohio State

The UConn hockey team scored five unanswered goals and rolled to a 6-1 win over No. 11 Ohio State on Saturday at the XL Center.

The No. 17-ranked Huskies had played the Buckeyes to a scoreless tie on Friday in the first of the two games, but the offense got rolling in Game 2.

After the first period ended in a 1-1 tie, UConn (5-0-1) took the lead for good on goals by Ty Amonte and Ryan Tverberg. The Huskies put the game out of reach in third with goals from Jake Percival and Jake Flynn and a second from Amonte.

Matthew Wood, who scored UConn’s first goal in the first period, also had two assists as did Hudson Schandor. Huskies goalie Arsenill Sergeev had 27 saves.
