Early voting isn’t needed

-

I read with interest the piece written concerning early voting [Insight, Page 1, Oct. 9, “Let everyone’s voice be heard”]. The writers seem to want us to believe that 200 years of voting in our democracy just isn’t good enough for us today. I have heard that everything in life is not easy. If it is worth doing, then we will find a way to do it.

There are some easy ways to vote. Call the headquarters of the candidate that you like or call the political party office and ask for a ride. They are more than happy to provide you with a ride to the polls and then back home. Can’t be much easier than that.

Absentee voting is another easy way to vote. Men and women who are in the military use this way to vote. During the 3½ years of my time in the Navy, I never missed an election. I don’t believe that just because people are lazy and can’t get motivated to get out and vote that absentee or write-in voting is needed.

Our voting polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. In those 14 hours, if you really want to vote, you should be able to get it taken care of. Why is it now that the Democrats want so much to get this write-in voting? I understand absentee voting, but write-in voting is prime for corruption. Unattended boxes outside of a town hall building? Looks like an easy place to load the box with a lot of write-in ballots. We saw enough bad things happen in the 2020 election. I sure saw enough to not want write-in ballots.

Let’s leave our elections alone and get out and vote on Nov. 8, 2022.
