Hogan, Mary T.

-

Mary T. Hogan died peacefully at the Avery Heights Nursing Home in Hartford on October 18, 2022 at the age of 89. She was born in Hartford on October 25, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Julia Hogan. She was also predeceased by her brother John F. Hogan. Mary was educated in the Hartford public schools, graduating from Weaver High School. She began a long and distinguished career with Aetna Life Insurance Company while still in high school, retiring as an administrative assistant after more than forty years of service. While at Aetna she was an active member of the Women's Club.

A loving daughter and sister, Mary always put her family at the center of her life. She loved animals and was particularly fond of a succession of Belgian shepherds who were an integral part of her household. Always mindful of her Irish heritage, every day was St. Patrick's Day for Mary. She loved to travel (particularly her trips to Ireland) and the theater (especially shows at the Goodspeed Opera house). Mary appreciated the finer things in life - from the beautifully tailored clothes she wore to her table set with Baleek China and Waterford chrystal. She was a world class jigsaw puzzler and Jumble solver. Mary was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church for more than forty years after her move from Hartford.

Mary's family would like to thank the nurses and nurse assistants for the kind and thoughtful care they provided her during her stay at Avery Heights. In particular, they would like to express the deep sense of gratitude they feel for the unceasing efforts of Holly Taylor, Program Director, to make Mary always feel “at home” in the Memory Care Residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 27, at 10:00am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the Church.
