William E. “Bill” VanDeMark, 73, of Windsor, beloved husband of 50 years to Anita (Julian) VanDeMark, passed away at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Bill was born on February 18, 1949, in Troy, NY, son to the late Egbert and Ruth (Kenyon) VanDeMark.

Bill grew up in Latham, NY, attended local schools and was a graduate of Shaker High School, Class of 1967. In high school, Bill was a dual sport athlete, competing on both their basketball team as well as their track & field team throughout his four years. After graduation, Bill continued his education earning his bachelor's degree in Economics from Drexel University, in Philadelph­ia, where he was also a member of their basketball team. After his schooling, Bill worked for various companies including Marine Midland Bank and Edwards Supermarke­ts as the head of market research. In 1996, he began his own company, VanDeMark & Group, specializi­ng in market research for retail site location, which he ran and operated up until his passing. Bill enjoyed spending time on the water boating, fishing and skiing on Lake Champlain. Throughout the years, you could find him cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox and the UConn Men and Women's Basketball teams. Although Bill's passing will leave a void in the hearts of many, his memories will be cherished to all who knew him for years to come. In addition to his wife, Anita, Bill is survived by his two children, Joanna Landgrebe and her husband James of South Windsor and Nathan VanDeMark of Windsor; his two grandsons, Timothy and Christophe­r, who loved their Papi very much; his sister-in-law Dianne Sillery, numerous family members including nieces and nephews, as well as close friends. He was predecease­d by his parents and two brothers, Michael and Paul VanDeMark.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
