Valentine, Maloney improve to 6-0 with win at Bristol Central

Behind senior quarterbac­k Kyle Valentine’s three touchdowns, the unbeaten Maloney High football team cruised past Bristol Central 35-7 in a CCC interdivis­ion road game in Bristol.

Valentine was 15-for-24 for 184 yards and the three TDs. Josiah Gonzalez caught two, including a long of 38 yards, and Donte Kelly had a 35-yard TD catch. Josh Boganski had 18 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans (6-0).

The Rams (1-5) took an early first quarter lead on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Tre Blair to Nik Salinas. But that was the only score the Maloney defense allowed all day. Boganski’s first score of the the day tied the game early in the second quarter. Valentine’s first TD pass to Gonzalez with 30 seconds left in the half gave Maloney the lead for good.

Late Friday

Wethersfie­ld 35, Hall 21: Sophomore quarterbac­k Cam Righi had 26 carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns and junior running back Jova’n Hill had 21 carries for 187 yards, including 152 in the second half and two touchdowns as the Eagles topped Hall in a CCC game in West Hartford.

Hall scored first on a Bode Smith 23-yard touchdown pass two minutes into the game but Righi scored his first touchdown with 2:47 left in the first quarter on an 8-yard keeper. Wethersfie­ld (5-1) recovered a fumble and scored again with 4.3 seconds left in the quarter to go up 14-7. Smith tied the score with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Griffin with 9:29 left in the half and it was 14-14 at halftime.

East Hartford 26, New Britain 25: Drayvn Roberts rushed for three touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter, and the Hornets edged New Britain by a point for their first win of the season. Roberts rushed for 64 and 15-yard scores in the fourth to help East Hartford (1-5) come from behind for the win. Cameron Bond rushed for three TDs for the Hurricanes (2-4).

E.O. Smith 37, Farmington 21: The Panthers rushed for five touchdowns and topped Farmington in a CCC interdivis­ion road game.

Tyler Holcomb and Connor Ouellette each rushed for two TDs and Ben Rosenberg had the fifth. E.O. Smith improves to 4-2. Luke Watson rushed for two scores for Farmington (2-4).

Berlin 41, Tolland 21: The Redcoats rolled to a CCC inter win over Tolland to stay unbeaten this season. Luke Maguder had an 80-yard kickoff return touchdown and caught a second TD from Lorenzo Miele, who tossed a second TD to Kyle Melville. Josh Grimm added a 35-yard pick-six for Berlin (6-0). Matt Tybor had six catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns, both from Ryan Caminiti who passed for 155 yards for Tolland (2-5). Haddam-Killingwor­th 15, North Branford 14: The Cougar defense stopped North Branford on fourth down at the Thunderbir­d 10-yard line to seal a Pequot Sassacus road win. Alex Phipps tossed two touchdowns for H-K (3-2), to Wyatt Solosky and Tate Callender, who also had the two-point conversion that proved to be the winning margin. North Branford falls to 2-4.

Ellington 24, Stafford/East Windsor/Somers 10: Dante Mangiafico had three touchdowns and the Knights defeated the Bulldogs on the road in a Pequot Uncas game. Mangiafico tossed two TD passes to Elijah Miller and rushed for a third score to lead Ellington (5-1) to the win. Zack Donovan had a rushing TD for the Stafford co-op (3-3).

Granby/Canton 44, Rockville 20: The Bears picked up a Pequot Uncas road win behind two touchdowns each from Will Migliaccio and Will Attianese. Luke Maher also had a rushing TD and Carter Chambers had a 41-yard pick-six for Granby/ Canton (3-2). Brady Ramsdell was 21-for-49 for 325 yards and three TDs for the Rams (3-2). Cheshire 27, Notre Dame-West Haven 12: Matthew Jeffery was a force on both sides of the ball as the Rams topped the Green Knights in an SCC Tier 1 home game. Jeffery had two receiving touchdowns (both from Michael Simeone) and had six tackles, two passes defended and a fumble recovery on defense. Micah Galloza kicked two field goals for Cheshire (5-1). Notre Dame falls to 4-2.
