McConnell, Phyllis E. (Martin)
Phyllis E. (Martin) Cahill McConnell, 80, of Ellington, beloved wife of the late Frank Cahill and Donald McConnell, passed away peacefully, after an extended illness on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Phyllis was born on March 18, 1942, in Hartford, one of six children of the late Rodolphe and Esther (Gerard) Martin.
Along with raising her family, she was employed as an administrative assistant in the Superintendent's Office for both the South Windsor & Ellington Board of Education. Phyllis was a member of St. Luke Church, where she thoroughly enjoyed singing in the Folk Group. She was a former member of the Ellington Junior Women's Club, a former participant in the Ellington Firemen's Fair parade for over 25 years and an avid traveler who enjoyed her adventures with family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her three loving children, Sherry Kraus and her husband Robert of Ellington, Sean Cahill of Alameda, CA, and Jason Cahill and his wife June of Ellington, her six cherished grandchildren, Zachary Kraus and his wife Julia, Spencer “Benny” Kraus, Connor Cahill, McKenna Cahill, Ryan Kelley-Cahill and Justin Kelley-Cahill. She also leaves her four siblings, Gerard “Skip” Martin of Florida, Richard “Rick” Martin of Coventry, David Martin of Illinois and Michele Theroux and her husband John of Massachusetts, many nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her two husbands and parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her sister Claire Daley. Phyllis's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at LiveWell in Plantsville, CT for their kind compassionate and outstanding care over the last few years.
Calling hours will be at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke Church, 141 Maple St. in Ellington on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 9:30 am. Burial will be private.
