Lloyd, Katherine J. (Goulet)

Katherine Jane (Goulet) Lloyd, 83, of Simsbury, beloved wife of the late Carleton William Lloyd, passed away peacefully at McLean Health Care on October 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Graniteville, VT on February 2, 1939, the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Katie Maude (Carpenter) Goulet. She was raised in Websterville, VT and attended school there until 8th grade. When the family moved to Uxbridge, Massachusetts, she attended and graduated from Uxbridge High School. Katherine began her career in the pension department at State Mutual Life Assurance Company in Uxbridge, MA. Then, when her family moved to Newington, CT, she began working for The Travelers Insurance Company. She was living in Newington when she met her husband while picking up her father from the Edward Balf Quarry Company where they both worked. She and Carleton were married in September, 1961 and settled in his hometown of East Granby where they raised their children. She was a stay at home mother until she began working at Winsted Savings Bank from the early 80's until the mid 90's. She later worked for Stop and Shop for many years. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America in East Granby; she proudly received her 50 year Service Pin in 2020 and specialized as their “Girl Scout Cookie Coordinator.” She was very involved in the East Granby community; volunteering for many years at the East Granby Public Library as well as the Elmwood Cemetery Association and the Center Cemetery Association. She is survived by her daughter, Karen M. Short and her husband Matthew (Tom) of Granby; her sons, Craig A. Lloyd and his wife Heather of East Granby; and William A. Lloyd and his wife Marie of Windsor Locks; her grandchildren, Katrina Short of Windsor Locks, Caroline (Short) Dahlgren and her husband Justin of South Windsor; Christopher Lloyd and Timothy Lloyd of East Granby; Gordon Lloyd and Dustin Lloyd of Windsor Locks; her brother Arthur Goulet of Nashua, NH, her sisters, Linda Clark and her husband George of Kent, PA, Rita Maul and Gail Kuiper both of Indian Trail, NC and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Carleton W. Lloyd, her parents, and her brothers, Roland Goulet and Herbert Goulet, their wives Lillian and Virginia, her brother Arthur's wife Judy Goulet and her sisters' husbands Fred Maul and Mark Kuiper. Katherine's immediate family will receive friends and family on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at HayesHuling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00PM. Burial will follow in the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery in East Granby.
