Leonard Joseph Liss, 76, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann (Babcock) Liss, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Born in Hartford, CT on April 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Leon and Francis (Bialecki) Liss and grew up in East Granby. He was part of the first graduating class at East Granby High School in 1964. He attended Technical School and from there joined the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he moved with his wife to Windsor Locks where they raised their children. Leonard worked for SNET phone company and the succeeding companies for over 40 years before retiring. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r who served his family and community for many years as a coach for Jets Midget Football, coach and then President of the Windsor Locks Little League. He was a communican­t of St. Mary Church. As a Steelers fan, he enjoyed watching football. He was a kind person who would help anyone who needed it. A dedicated veteran, loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother and uncle, he will be missed by many family and friends. Besides his wife Ann of 52 years, he leaves his daughter, Kathryn Hensel and her husband Matthew of East Granby; 2 beloved grandchild­ren, Luke Gouin and Josephine Hensel; his brother, Anthony Liss and wife Barbara of El Paso, TX; and many nieces and nephews, Mary Corso of East Granby, Tom Liss and his wife Amanda of Meriden, and Robert Liss of New Hampshire. He was predecease­d by his son, Joseph Liss, his sister Elizabeth Corso and her husband Philip, his nephew John Corso, and niece Jennifer Neuman. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, from 4-6 PM at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St. Windsor Locks. His funeral will begin on Thursday, November 3, at 10 AM at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial taking place at 11 AM at St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks. Memorial donations may be made to the VFW, 36 Fairview St, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
