Corbidge, Robert Kenneth

-

Robert “Butch” Kenneth Corbidge, age 86, from Timber Pines, Spring Hill, Florida, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 24th while holding the hands of his loving daughters.

Born in 1936 in Hartford, CT to the late Kenneth Corbidge and Anna Parrott, he attended Farmington High School, where he met his soul mate and bride, Deanna Boundy Corbidge, who predeceased him in 2020. A faithful marine from 1955 to 1962, Butch possessed an exceptional love of country and service. His hallmark need to reach out to any stranger wearing evidence of service is a memory his family will cherish.

Making their home in various suburbs of Hartford, Connecticut, Butch enjoyed a fulfilling 32.5 year career in the CT Environmental Protection Agency with his favorite role being Regional Fire Control Officer. He was eager to fight forest fires and protect the community and wildlife every fire season. He even proactively volunteered to fight fires in Western states, at great peril to himself, to lend a hand. In addition to his forestry work, Butch was also co-owner of a manufacturing business with his wife.

Upon retirement to Spring Hill, FL in 1992, Butch actively served 6 years with Habitat for Humanity and volunteered at both Nativity Lutheran Church and Pines Way Village in Timber Pines. He shared his love of golf with his “Tuesday Group” as his favorite Timber Pines pastime.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Beth Corbidge of Spring Hill, FL and Marcia (and John) Stankard of Westwood, MA, sisters Joanie (and Leo) Bizier and Tina (and Frank) Pratt, both of Bristol, CT, sisters-in-law Carole (and Dennis) Flinn of Redmond, OR and Donna Boundy of West Hurley, NY, six beloved grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

To know Butch is to know he had a kind word and a ready hug for everyone. Loveable, to an exceptional degree, he walked this earth with a joyful heart and made friends instantly with everyone he encountered. He was a devoted caregiver for his wife during her entire illness and losing her in 2020 stole some of the twinkle in his eyes. His family celebrates that Butch is now reunited with Dee in Heaven and is grateful to have had him in their lives as an incredible source of love and support, a man that led by example and made the world a happier place to be.
