William Anthony “Bill” Ridel, 65, of Barkhamste­d, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Anderson) Ridel passed away peacefully at Midstate Hospital in Meriden on October 24, 2022, after a long illness. Born in Hartford on April 9, 1957, the son of Edward and Janice (Sirica) Ridel. Bill was a 1975 graduate of Suffield High School. He went on to enlist in the United States Army and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1981. Bill retired as an assembler with Point Lighting three years ago due to health issues. Bill had a quick wit, great sense of humor and the ability to want to fix anything and everything. He was deeply committed to his wife, was a proud father of his sons and his best friend was his loyal dog Duke. Bill was also very excited about the upcoming birth of his first grandchild. He loved to cook, was excellent at it and a perfection­ist at it. He enjoyed making LED Christmas lights and spending time in his garden tending to his flowers. Bill bought a telescope last year; he developed a keen interest in the stars and planets and a new hobby of Astronomy. Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Ridel, his sons, Jason Ridel and his wife Elana and Nicholas Ridel, his brothers, Edward and Robert and his sister Kimberly and his in laws Robert and Mary Anderson. Bill's family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 9:30-10:30AM at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Therese Church, 120 W. Granby Road, Granby, CT 06035. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hill Street, Suffield, CT 06078.
