Tuesday 13 Dec 2022 a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister left us to join her longtime partner and husband in eternal rest. Lucy, 98, of Rocky Hill, CT was born to Hilma and Syver Gunderson and grew up on a family farm in Blair, WI. Lucy was an amazing, classy lady with a great sense of humor who maintained a can-do, positive attitude all her life. Lucy will be missed by all those who loved, cherished her, enjoyed her generosity and smile.

Lucy was working in an aircraft parts factory in Milwaukee, WI when she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) H. Baldwin, a US Navy sailor undergoing training before deploying to the Pacific for WWII. They wrote to each other for almost 2 years while the war was on and married in 1946 after Bob returned home from the Pacific. Their loving partnership, “a marriage made in heaven,” lasted nearly 70 years before Bob's passing. They began their life together in Meriden, CT and were blessed with 4 children: Ann, George, Sara and Robert (Bobby). Lucy and Bob lived in Middletown CT 27 years and later moved to Lincoln NE in 1973 and resided there for 43 years before returning to CT in 2015.

Lucy will be remembered most as a multi-talented devoted homemaker - as a seamstress, fabulous cook, baker, florist, gardener, also as a landscape artist who worked in oils and painted numerous scenic canvases. Throughout her life, Lucy was active in numerous groups, including Lady's Aid, Third Congregational Church Westfield CT, Veteran's Garden Memorial Lincoln NE, Lincoln Community Playhouse, Southgaters, and various neighborhood volunteer clubs.

We will always remember funny stories she shared about youthful escapades in Milwaukee, chasing the farm animals when they escaped, garden vegetable

food fights, winter snow sliding, breaking up tussles between her teenage sons, questionable swimming with Tudi at Idle Hour, milking a cow as well as any of the men.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Stella Wallace, Harold and George Gunderson, husband (Bob), daughter Ann L. Dedrick, and grandson Robert R. Dedrick. She is survived by her children George (Paula), Sara, Bobby (Rhoni), as well as grandchildren Sarah Vertner, Elizabeth (Liz) Dedrick-Gorman, Corrine Hancock, Ryan Baldwin, Jessica Mathis, James (Jimmy) Baldwin plus 16 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Bob and Lucy's life together will be held in the future in Middletown CT and also Blair, WI. In Lucy's memory, donations may be made to Trinity Hospice, Rocky Hill, CT. The family gives special thanks to the angels at Trinity Hospice - Marnee Fritz, and The Atrium at Rocky Hill - Georgette Morrison, for their amazing care and kindness to our mother at the end of her life.
