DL Barmore activated, OT Wynn placed on IR

- By Andrew Callahan

Two months later, he’s back.

Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore was activated off injured reserve and added to the 53-man roster Saturday. To create a roster spot, the Pats placed offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn on injured reserve.

Barmore hasn’t played since Oct. 16 due to a lingering knee injury, but returned to practice this week and suited up every day. After the team’s last practice Friday, defensive captain Deatrich Wise told reporters: “(Barmore)’s back, ready to go. Moving well, moving fast.”

Over the team’s first six games of the season, Barmore recorded one sack, three QB hits and 15 tackles. He is the Patriots’ most effective interior pass rusher, a player who could be pivotal Sunday against a hurting Raiders offensive line.

Wynn must miss four games on IR, meaning his regular season is officially over. With his contract set to expire this spring, the 2018 first-rounder might be done in New England. Wynn switched positions to right tackle this season, and over nine games allowed five sacks and got flagged five times for holding.

The Pats also elevated linebacker Jamie Collins from their practice squad for the third game this season. Collins played five snaps against the Cardinals on Monday and finished with one tackle.

Harris out, could Meyers

be in?:The Patriots ruled out running back Damien Harris for Sunday’s game. Harris had been listed as questionable with a thigh injury. Sunday will be the third straight game Harris has missed since getting hurt at Minnesota on Thanksgiving. Without him, the Patriots’ backfield is again down to Rhamondre Stevenson and rookies Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris.

Stevenson, who suffered an ankle injury Monday at Arizona, is questionable. He missed practices Wednesday and Thursday before being limited on Friday. Strong and Harris replaced him for the entire second half of Monday’s win, combining for 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the team expects wide receiver Jakobi Meyers will play, according to league sources.

Meyers is officially listed as questionable on the team’s injury report. After sustaining a concussion against Buffalo on Dec. 1, Meyers was not cleared to practice until this week. He was a limited participant in practices on Wednesday and Friday.
